My Fur-Face Family

This is the first page of my multi-page photo gallery. Currently these pages focus primarily on the Akitas who have been part of my family, my life. Pages 1–4 are devoted to my first four Akitas. Page 5 presents five delightful images of a play session between a 3-month-old Akita puppy and a 12-month-old adolescent Akita. The first of these five photos is one of my all-time favorite dog photos, but since the pup was my first Akita—my first dog ever—I 'might' be somewhat biased.

Eventually, as time permits, I will add more pages re other Akitas as well as the feline members of my family.

Akita Tani's Teruhoshi

sire:

Akita Tani's Makoto

DOB:

November 7, 1968

dam:

Akita Tani's Waka Bata Tama

Teruhoshi means "Shining Star"

'Teru' was our first dog, our first Akita. He was not the breeder's pick of the litter, but he was definitely ours. He was outgoing, friendly, and full of spunk. As the ringleader of his litter, he often led them into mischievous behavior, such as leaving the pen and running off into the grassy play area.

On the other hand, when 'Teru' was 1 yr old and we brought home our 8-week-old 2nd Akita, a female named 'Tomo', he was extremely careful and gentle with her. When they first started playing and it looked as though he might crash into or fall on her, we could see him actually shift his weight and land in the opposite direction. Later, as she got older, they would wrestle and play hard in typical Akita fashion. They adored each other.

'Teru' loved everyone and had a charm and charisma unmatched by any other dog I've ever known. I still miss him today.

'Teru' & 'Kuro'

This is one of my all-time favorite canine photos. 'Kuro' was owned by Pete and Maggie Lagus.

My Stud-Book Dedication to Teru

I wish to dedicate my efforts in preparing this book to the memory of my beloved Teru (11/7/68 - 9/28/75), who was taken from me suddenly, unexpectedly and prematurely. He won the hearts of all who knew him for he had a charm and charisma unmatched by any other dog I've ever known. Though untitled and without get, he was a champion companion. For me he was—and always will be—ichiban inu.    KSGreisen, December 1975
