Each year the Society
for Technical Communication (STC) sponsors International
Competitions to recognize the achievements of professionals
and students in the field of technical communication.
These competitions include:
Online
Communication
Technical
Art
Technical
Publications
How Does It Work?
STC chapters (or combined chapters)
sponsor local (or regional) competitions in one or more
of the above three categories. Technical publications
are judged on writing, graphics, copyediting, and overall
integration. The judges grant three levels of award:
In each local competition, one Best
in Show is awarded but multiple awards are granted at
each of the three levels. DTC award winners in each
category are then automatically entered in the International
Competition.
What is a Student
Entry?
Student entries—those works that were
NOT originally prepared for and accepted for publication
by a client, employer, or publisher—are not eligible
to compete at the international level. Only a few STC
chapters accept student entries in their competitions.
Because the local competition (Touchstone) was not among
them, the orchid manual was submitted to the Intermountain
STC Chapter in Salt Lake City, Utah.
What is The Society
for Technical Communication (STC)?
STC is a professional association that advances the
arts and sciences of technical communication. |
